THE BUSINESS OF DRAGONS

Years ago, I spotted a bumper sticker that said, “Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”

I found that saying to be quite clever, and the pithy advice resonated with me. I realized that throughout my life, I had repeatedly brought harm upon myself by meddling in the affairs of dragons.

I told a friend of mine about the bumper sticker. Knowing that I am a writer, she said, “There’s a story in there somewhere. Why don’t you reach out and catch it.”
