LESSONS FROM THE OUTHOUSE
Growing UP IN RURAL southern Indiana, many families had outhouses, instead of indoor bathrooms, including mine. One afternoon, when I had a little friend over to play, she got mad at me. For some reason our outhouse had a lock on the outside, And my friend Locked me inside. I was scared to death. I guess I figured that I was going to spend the rest of my life locked in the outhouse. I cried pitifully called and called for someone to come and discover my predicament. I had been thoroughly Indoctrinated In the belief that a person is supposed to pray when they are in difficult situations This was definitely a situation that called for prayer. , so I prayed for rescue. Eventually my older brother found me, and freed me from my  smelly prison. I really believed that God had answered my fervent prayer., Oh, for the faith of a child. 7, 2024: Now, I would like to borrow some of my childhood faith. To help me hang on to the conviction that I do not have to live in the confinement of this impaired body. For the rest of my life that I will be able to gain fuller health. |
