OFFERING MY BEST

Two days ago, a free-lance journalist from my local newspaper came to my home to interview me. He is doing an article about the new book I am releasing, A DIFFERENT FRAME OF MIND, and my work as a writer with a traumatic brain injury.

The interview was extraordinarily tiring for me, but I’m glad I did it. Since my brain injury, I have struggled to speak up and speak out, to make myself known. Remaining quiet conserves my energy and is much easier for me. Hiding and invisibility seems the safest way to go through life, as no one can judge or harass me if they don’t see me.

Quiet and solitude can be restful and restorative. Since my injury, I need more of that than I used to. But I recognize that staying in my quiet space 100% of the time becomes an escape from what I need to do and who I need to be.

Even though I am a different person than I used to be, life still calls me to be active, to make my voice heard, and to offer the best of what I have.
