Creating the unusual format for A WEEKEND WITH FRANCES was an interesting challenge for me. The novel consists of half a dozen small stories woven together to create the larger story. It carries the reader through the time frame of one weekend, while reverting to the backstories that each of the characters bring with them to the reunion.
At the beginning of the project, I had no idea how I would weave this tapestry. I simply started writing, and somehow, it came together. After I finished the story, I had no idea how I’d done it. I can’t ever seem to remember how a book comes together for me.
