Twenty-five years ago, I was deeply and passionately involved with dancing, enjoying a variety of genres. My children, teenagers at the time, teased me about being a dork.
After sustaining a traumatic brain injury seven years ago, I struggled with gait and balance problems. My doctor sent me to physical therapy to learn how to walk normally again. I thought for sure that my dancing days were over, and I came to a point of accepting that loss.
However, I recently discovered the line dance class held at our local senior center. I cannot possibly express the ecstasy I felt when I found that I had regained the ability to learn and perform the intricate patterns of steps. Dancing once again has brought back a type of joy that has been missing in my life for years. I am beyond grateful!
